Jobs In Medicine Are Plentiful And Well Paid

There are many types of jobs in medicine, from admin or lab technician, to genetic research. The options are very diverse. If your number one priority is helping other people, this is a great field to build your career..

When most of us think of people who work in medicine, our first thought is of doctors. If you are thinking about going into this field, know that you can pick from just about any service area of health care you can think of. Don’t feel limited to just a doctor or nurse position, there are many others. Some are administrative, and some super scientific like lab work, or genetic research. Jobs in medicine are fun if you have the right training and personality to go along with the work requirements.

If you do want to be a doctor, there is a lot of training and years of schooling from an accredited university in your future. The average in school and on site training for these types of jobs in medicine include 4 years of college work, another 4 years of medical school, and 4-9 years of training under another doctor for an internship and residency. If you want to specialize it’ll take you a few more years, depending on your chosen field.  Jobs in medicine are plentiful and well paid, some up to hundreds of thousands of dollars per year, but expect to work long hours, and owe a lot in student loans to get an education. Jobs in medicine for nurses are above the average salary income, but it takes a special personality, and many hours on your feet.

Other positions include working in a clinic or hospital insurance department, or even as a lab technician that draws blood, or collects specimens of other types of bodily fluid for analysis. These types of jobs in medicine, just like nurses and doctors, are not for the faint hearted. Technicians for x-rays, MRI, and CAT scans are needed in the medical fields too. Peripheral jobs in medicine include janitors, repair technicians for building supervision and services, lawn care, or even repair service for the machines inside the medical complex. A pleasant area to work in is a hospital gift shop, or care for people in the hospital as a sitter, to help families take a needed break away from a friend or loved one. Jobs in medicine are as varied as the people and services they provide to people in need.

One of the most important things to remember when you are choosing any career path is your own personality. In order to succeed in any of the jobs in medicine you need to be a caring and compassionate person. You’ll spend the bulk of your days caring for people who are ill. If you are little patience and are frustrated by bad news, jobs in medicine may not be right for you. If you’ve always dreamed of a life’s work that included helping others choosing a profession in the medical field is a great start.
